New Director
My name is Jessica Kunkler Shaw, and I am excited to have recently accepted the board’s offer for the position of Director of the Baltimore Area Community Museum. As a Fairfield county native, I have a personal connection to many of the artifacts in the museum, and as a history buff, I cannot wait to dig in and learn more about the fascinating story of your community.
I hold a Graduate Certificate from Ohio University’s Museum Studies program, where I learned skills vital to this position, such as exhibit planning and management and historical preservation. I have also worked as the Experience Manager at the Avampato Discovery Museum in Charleston, WV. These experiences have brought me to Baltimore and I could not be more thrilled and energized to begin!
As Director, I plan to pick up where Lauren left off. She had many wonderful ideas and did much to enhance the museum. My head is swimming with ideas and projects for the coming months and years, but my priority will be to increase awareness throughout Baltimore and Fairfield county, of the treasure trove of history we keep in our museum. I will also be sharing with you, on Facebook and on our website, many of the fun, unique and or otherwise fascinating artifacts I come across in my day.
Please feel free to come say hello to me at the Museum tomorrow (Sunday, October 22nd) from 1-4 pm. We will continue to be open on Sundays from 1-4 pm until the spring, when we will expand our hours. In addition, stay tuned for information about the upcoming Christmas party!
Have a wonderful weekend, and I can’t wait to meet each of you!
Best, Jessica Kunkler Shaw
